Madagui Day 3 – Louise, Jenny and Julie’s perspectives

Campfire - We started off by splitting into groups and having a competition to be the group with the highest pasta stick tower, but only using marshmallows as our glue! We had a little bit (maybe) of a sticky situation (get it?) at the beginning, but it turned out alright until the very end… Let’s just say everything collapsed! Then we had delicious melted marshmallows around a cozy fire, followed by great songs.
Sleep in dorms - After an exhausting day, we were all ready to sleep in our dorms for the first time. Even though we were more than ready to sleep, we were also excited for what we would do the next day. Around 9:30pm we all had to go to sleep, ready for another great day.
Breakfast - The next day, we woke up and ate breakfast.  It was good to stuff ourselves after waking up, and it definitely boosted our strength for the day.  We had a lovely buffet with all sorts prepared, and after that we started our day full of energy.
Bamboo raft building - It was time to test our skills from yesterday’s lesson with the bamboo raft building! We were split into groups we started quickly with our rafts and flags. It was very busy all around us! After we’ve finished the race begun! As we started, we were all squished and boats were beginning to get moving, we were all annoyed how the teachers won! A boat behind us sank and we were beginning to realise our boat could be in a similar shape too, causing us to be careful. That didn’t stop some of us from tipping over though. We didn’t care anyways… But we did get soaking wet.
Weaving and painting - After the water rafting, we changed to weaving and painting. Painting was very relaxing, and we could work at our own pace, although some of us might have needed more time! The scene was a green lake with trees, mountains and bushes stretching out from all sides. We learned a lot from weaving, how to make fans, baskets and bracelets. Det Vai Village members came to teach us, and it was a privilege to learn from them. Most if not everyone got to bring home their own handmade souvenirs, which makes us proud and is very exciting. We also got to experience seeing a woman fabric weaving; we were amazed by the fact that it would take a whole month to make a scarf!
Relaxing in the rooms - After the whole exhausting day, we finally came back to our dorms. We had around one hour to prepare before we eat dinner. We showered, prepared ourselves and rested to get our new energy to do more activities at night.
Evening meal and quiz so far - Later on, we had our meal and we were excited for our next activity, which was the quiz. As we entered the quiz room, we got into groups and prepared for the questions ahead. The first theme was to recognize the song being played out, which we have to admit, we struggled quite a bit. We are currently at the theme of movies, which we seem to be doing better. Wish us luck!
